Ask about passport registration

When foreign visitors stay in China, accommodation registration matters. Hotels that accept foreign guests generally handle the registration procedure during check-in after seeing the guest's passport. Rules and local procedures can change, so confirm with your hotel instead of assuming it has been completed.

If you are staying somewhere other than a hotel, ask the host and the relevant local authority what registration procedure applies.

Useful sentences:

— qǐng bāng wǒ bàn lǐ zhù sù dēng jì. — Please help me complete the accommodation registration.
— Has the accommodation registration been completed?
— Do you need my passport?
  • 请问,我还需要做什么?— qǐng wèn, wǒ hái xū yào zuò shén me? — Excuse me, is there anything else I need to do?

Small problems

— wú xiàn wǎng bù néng yòng. — The Wi-Fi does not work.
— qǐng bāng wǒ yí xià. — Please help me.

If a hotel or delivery driver calls and you cannot follow the conversation, say:

我听不懂。请发短信。— wǒ tīng bù dǒng. qǐng fā duǎn xìn. — I do not understand. Please send a text message.
